It has been over a decade since Chef Giovan discovered his culinary identity. Having been raised in his father's former fine dining restaurants “The Blue Grotto”, “Gustaves” and “GIOs”; Chef Giovan's passion for the restaurant business, and natural ability as a Chef was revealed to him. In 1998 Giovan, along with his father Giuseppe Calapai, established their family owned restaurant, Bella. Giovan's fervor for food is evident, and his cuisine is a showcase for his talent. Chef Giovan's flavors range from traditional, Sicilian (showing a respect for his Sicilian heritage) and he features many special mainstream dishes as well. He often incorporates the ever changing flavors and styles of the culinary world into his exceptional creations.Ultimately, the satisfaction of his patrons is his inspiration. Chef Giovan, along with his exceptional culinary team, has created one of the most extensive menus in New England. In addition to his menu Chef Giovan features weekly specials that show his innate ability to experiment with ingredients, creating dishes that are both innovative and compelling.

Giovan, Giuseppe and Sarah Calapai


Bella Restaurant was founded in 1998 by restaurateur Giuseppe Calapai . Giuseppe Calapai was born in Messina, Italy. His love of food and desire to seethe world drew him to the Italian Cruise Line "The Oceanic". Ten years later Giuseppe found his home in America in a little place called Providence,Rhode Island. It was there that he used all of his experience and worldly knowledge to turn a dream of owning a restaurant into reality. He opened hisfirst restaurant on Federal Hill named "The Blue Grotto ", he then continued on to open "Gustaves" at the Valley Country Club in West Warwick,"Gio's Pasta & Grill" in Coventry and" Bella Restaurant" in Burrillville.Giuseppe's recipe for a successful restaurant is good food, excellent service and a meticulous environment.
Bella is a family owned and operated restaurant. Restaurant operations are looked over by Giuseppe Calapai who has been in the business for over 30 years.His son Giovan Calapai is the Owner / Executive Chef and daughter Sarah Calapai is the Banquet Coordinator and office manager. The Calapai family takes pride in their reputation for providing exceptional service; and is dedicated to serving meals like mamaused to make at prices papa likes to pay!

Our family has been in the business for over Thirty years in former restaurants such as "The Blue Grotto" on Federal Hill in Providence, and "The Valley Country Club" in West Warwick. With regard to our vast experience in the hospitality industry, functions are our specialty! We believe in the significance of each and every event, large or small.You will work together with our Professional Event Coordinator Sarah Calapai and our Culinary Team to achieve the event you desire!We can accommodate an event of up to 170 people. We are able to provide you with a list of Reputable Vendors upon request.
